Fundraising Ideas

Financial support is our most critical need, but there are other ways you can support the camps as well.

Put the Fun In Fundraising

  • Why not have some serious fun and organize a special event benefit with friends, classmates or co-workers? There are many creative ways. Here are a few examples:
  • One young man who was the kicker for his football team got donors to pledge $1 for every point he scored during the season.
  • A supporter hosted a South African wine tasting event at a local wine store. You could do this at your home too.
  • At a birthday party, instead of getting gifts, ask that contributions be made to Global Camps Africa
  • Another young man had a “Count Your Blessings” Mitzvah Project” that was extremely creative. For a copy, click here.
  • Contact a local restaurant and ask if they would sponsor Global Camps Africa Night whereby they donate a small percentage of the proceeds that evening to a good cause.
  • Try a Texas Hold ‘Em party. A $100 buy in per person (or whatever amount you choose) goes directly to the cause and you play with chips. At the end of the evening you turn in chips for raffle tickets for prizes. Most businesses (or friends) are willing to donate a prize to a non profit such as dinner for 2, theater tickets, car wash, starbucks gift certificate, spa day, rounds of golf, weekend get aways, etc.
  • Instead of wedding reception favors for your guests, why not consider a donation to Global Camps Africa made in honor of your guests? Click here for an example of a bookmark placed at each guest seat.
